What does membership include?

Comhaltas Ceoltóirí Éireann
CCÉ in Irish Gaelic means a 'Brotherhood of the Musicians of Ireland'. As the name suggests, it is a community of cultural advocates with a shared love, passion & dedication to Irish music.
This not-for-profit organization was set up in 1951 and there are hundreds of branches worldwide.
Here on Prince Edward Island, Canada, we are now the most easterly branch in all of North America!
We focus on promoting the Irish culture, with a particular focus on traditional Irish music. We do so by organizing a range of classes (both face-to-face and online) on concertina, fiddle, tin whistle, flute, guitar, pipes, harp & piano accompaniment, as well as traditional singing, step-dancing & sean-nós (old style) dancing.

In addition, we work in collaboration with UPEI & Holland College in educating about the language and the tradition of Irish music, hosting a virtual ‘Cupán Cainte’ (Irish language conversation), a monthly Comhaltas session for learners, on top of family cultural nights into the fall & winter semesters.

As a member of CCÉ Red Island, you receive;
